Music Ministry
What we do:
Six different choirs are available to parishioners ages 8 and up for all ability levels.  Others accompany, cantor and plan the music.
Master Cantor/Vocalist: Auditioned vocalists who facilitate congregational singing by leading music at weekend services and Holy Day Masses.  In addition to vocal capabilities, Master Cantors need to be able to read music, sight sing acapella and have comfort in front of a large group of people.  Rehearsals are set up individually with accompanists prior to the day of their scheduled service.
Children’s Choir: A seasonal group that sings for 5 pm Christmas Eve Mass and 1st Communion Masses in the Spring.  All students in 3rd through 8th grade are invited.  Rehearsals are usually Sunday afternoons.
Resurrection Choir: All vocalists available to sing for funeral masses.  Rehearsals are 30 minutes prior to service.  This group sings on an “on call” basis.
Celebration Singers: Adult vocalists that rehearse weekly on Tuesday from 7 to 9 pm and lead music at 9 am Mass three Sundays a month during the school year.  Contact: Sue Solinger - 270-6806

Guitar Group: Adult guitarists and singers that rehearse bi-weekly on Thursday evenings at 8:30 pm and lead music at 5 pm Mass twice a month during the school year.
Schola Cantorum (Schooled Singers): Auditioned adult vocalists that rehearse bi-weekly on Thursday evenings at 6:45 pm and lead music at 5 pm Mass twice a month during the school year.
Instrumentalists: Auditioned musicians for any instrument.  Rehearsals as needed with group or cantor.
Music Committee: Any parishioner interested in helping choose the songs that are sung at weekend services.  Meetings are usually every other month.

Liturgical Ministers
What we do:

Altar Server: Assists the priest during Mass. This tradition is one of the greatest signs of reverence and respect. Servers can train through the school or the Faith Formation Office during the latter part of 5th grade. Service continues through 8th grade.
Eucharistic Minister: Assists in the distribution of Communion during the celebration of the Mass. Ministers must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Greeter: Welcome our good parishioners at every weekend Mass. They stand at each door and greet people with an enthusiastic, “Welcome to St. Pius!” Smiles and hugs are encouraged! Also spot newcomers and direct people to the ushers for seating if needed.
Lector: Proclaims the Word of God and reads the Prayers of the Faithful or the weekly announcements at the Masses. Lectors must be at least 15 years of age.
Sacristan: Arrives 30 minutes prior to Mass to ensure all ministers are in place for the celebration of Mass. Also prepare the credence table and the Priest's microphones.
Usher: Assists in seating and in procedural and emergency needs.
Liturgical Committee: Works with the Priest in planning for the special liturgies occurring during the year. Receives reports from the environment committee and the music planner. Helps schedule ministry training.

Hearts on Fire
What we do:
Motivate the community of St. Pius X to become more active in their faith through music, prayer and education. We come together to grow closer to our Lord, to join our hearts in prayer, to learn more about our faith and to live out our faith, for Christian fellowship and to raise our voices in joyful praise and worship.

Perpetual Adoration - Weekly Adorer
What we do:
Signing up for a weekly Holy Hour gives us the opportunity to honor Our Lord's request and place ourselves before Him, "growing in his likeness from one degree of glory to another" (St. Paul, 2 Cor.) and making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world.

Perpetual Adoration – Substitute Adorer
Signing up to be a substitute when regular adorers are unable to fulfill their commitment is another way we can honor Our Lord's request.

Prayer Warrior – Email List or Call List
What we do:
Jesus wants us to pray for ourselves and others to Our Father. Signing up to be a prayer warrior entails receiving prayer requests via email and then offering that request up to the Lord. Volunteers are needed to be callers for a phone prayer tree.
